With reduced state funding, we are faced with the challenge of providing more food with less financial resources. A recent surge of first-time clients at the 7 local food banks has placed a strain on the ability to provide sufficient food supplies to all recipients.   Businesses and organizations can help support those in need by providing financial or material donations to support the Bedford County food pantries. Financial support is used to purchase bulk items for monthly distribution. Donations of healthy food items are also welcome and will be distributed equally throughout the county. Examples of these items that can be safely warehoused for distribution include canned meats, fruits and vegetables; packaged grain; and non-perishable dairy products.
